Steeda Red Thunder F-150 Performance Update
November, 2006
 |
| Driven by Steeda sales rep, Jason Porcelli, the Steeda Red Thunder F-150, equipped with a new Steeda/ Magna Charger supercharger system turned times one second quicker and five miles an hour faster, than with the previous roots type supercharger system. |
The constant development and testing of the Steeda F-150 Red Thunder Sports truck has yielded impressive results. When originally built, The F-150 was equipped with a roots type aftermarket supercharger system. While looking impressive, the track results were not up to Steeda’s standards of performance and drivability. With this in mind a new Steeda/ Magna Charger 5TH Generation MP112 supercharger system was installed. The torque and horsepower output is improved from 1,200 rpm to 5,500 rpm, providing almost instant response. Steeda designed and engineered a larger capacity heat exchanger to cool the charge over 60 degrees from the previous one and in the process was able to realize an extra 40 horsepower from the system.
The F-150 was fitted with a new set of 20X8.5 Steeda truck sport wheels with 285/50R20 Goodyear Eagle GT II performance radials. This new wheel/tire combination provides excellent year round driving performance with good traction under all driving conditions, even on the drag strip.
During the Steeda Stampede and Moroso Motorsports Park Ford Power Festival in October, Jason Porcelli, Steeda sales representative and an accomplished drag racer took to the 1/8 mile drag strip at Moroso. Red Thunder responded with times one second quicker than before with and increase of over five mile an hour. The test and development program continued on the Moroso ¼ mile a few weeks later, Scott Boda, Steeda Autosports Director of Manufacturing, who campaigns a nine second Mustang, took the controls. Scott lowered the quarter mile times over a second and went over five miles an hour faster than with the previous setup. While impressive, the testing goes on, with new updates being added. After the next trip to the track, we will report the findings, as Steeda continues to put more Red Thunder into the F-150.

2006 Steeda Autosports F-150 SC (Supercharged) Current Day Lightning
July, 2006
The 2002-04 Ford F-150 Lightning was very popular with enthusiasts who wanted both power and performance in their truck. The Lightning was discontinued when the current F-150 body style was introduced. With this in mind Steeda Autosports has introduced their F-150 SC. Similar in content to the company’s “Red Thunder” F-150 that won the Ford Motor Company’s Product Excellence Award at the 2005 SEMA Show, the F-150 SC features a Steeda/ Magna Charger MP112 supercharger with the Steeda designed and engineered intercooler system. With this system the 5.4 L 3V engine makes in excess of 446 horsepower and 450 ft.lbs of torque. A unique Steeda /SCT tune insures the system runs perfectly.
All the power exits the engine via a Steeda cat-back stainless steel exhaust system with side exhaust.
All this power demands effective braking and the F-150 has it with the addition of Powerslot Performance brake rotors with Hawk Racing high performance pads.
Being a Steeda Autosports produced truck you had to know the suspension would be representative of the company’s world class handling vehicles. The Steeda performance suspension drops the truck 2 inches in front and 5 inches in the rear to promote crisp and balanced handling. The F-150 SC is equipped with the latest Steeda Sport Chrome 20 X 8.5 chrome wheels with Steeda locking nut set. Steeda offers either Nitto NT-420, BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW or Goodyear Fortera SL performance tires for the F-150 SC. Each F-150 receives a performance alignment before leaving the Steeda Autosports campus.
The Steeda Sidewinder color keyed graphics package with Steeda billet tie down delete kit featuring the customer choice of either the Steeda or Ford logo completes the exterior enhancements and upgrades.
A custom designed Steeda leather seating package highlights an interior that features the Steeda white face gauges.

November, 2005
Steeda's 2005 F-150 Flareside "Red Thunder", was selected by members of the Ford Product Development Team to receive a Ford Product Excellence Award at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The Steeda F-150 was selected based on the following criteria; new product development, vehicle appearance, marketability/fit with the Brand, use of aftermarket parts and display. The Steeda Flareside introduced a number of enhancements including a brand new JBA Headers side exhaust system. This system will be available through Steeda Autosports as well as all performance and dress up equipment featured on the F-150. Based in the JBA Headers display, the 415 horsepower truck is not only fast, but provides its occupants with the best sounds thanks to a Kicker SS Matched Component System. Steeda Autosports would like to thank its marketing partners, as well as all the participants of the www.F150online.com forums for their contributions that made the Ford Product Excellence Award possible.
The " Red Thunder" F-150 was one of two vehicles the company shipped to the 2005 SEMA Show. The second, the 2005 Steeda Focus, "Crimson Ride" featured many new performance and styling upgrades. On display in the outstanding, SEMA Show dominating, Ford Motor Company exhibit, the Focus ZX3 had a very aggressive, road hungry look with the brand new Focus Ground Effects Kit from Genuine Ford Accessories. With the show stopping front facia and rear diffuser, Steeda competition proven suspension and new Steeda 18x8 forged alloy wheels, the ZX3 looked like it could compete in and win the Monte Carlo Rally. Steeda enlisted focaljet.com forum participants as well as the company's marketing partners in building the "Crimson Ride" Focus and would like to thank everyone for their input building the exciting, 2005 Focus ZX3.
Both the Red Thunder F-150 and the Crimson Ride Focus ZX3 will be seen at events, on the Steeda Focus and truck websites, as well as in print executions in the coming months.
